Subsurface utility engineering services by Accumark Our Experience by Service

Our goal on all projects is to provide timely, precise utility location information
as part of an overall effort to ensure constructability and control costs.

We are sensitive to the fact that utility records may be misleading and incomplete, because of this we stand by our commitment to provide the most accurate, reliable and clear utility location and designations possible through our experience, knowledge and innovative techniques. Below are a few examples of our most recent projects listed by the type of service provided.

Utility Designation:

    Marine Corps Base, Quantico
  • Marine Corps Base, Quantico: New Fire Station Design Project

As a sub-consultant to design engineers, Accumark, Inc. was contracted to perform utility designation services for a proposed site to build a new airport fire station at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia.
  • University of Maryland - College Park, MD

Designated 13,000 linear feet of utilities and performed 27 test holes for University infrastructure improvements.
  • Washington Dulles International Airport - Sterling, VA

Provided utility designating and locations exhibits of approximately 28,000 linear feet of underground facilities and 65 test holes for the design and installation of 16 inch natural gas main.
  • Kiewit Construction Company: Subsurface Utility Engineering

Accumark was part of the team tasked with the design and installation of the Level III Communications Fiber Optic Infrastructure. We provided subsurface utility engineering services, including approximately 150 Test Holes in the State of Virginia. Kiewit Construction Company relied on Accumark to determine the precise horizontal and vertical location of existing utilities in conflict with the newly installed Level III Fiber Optic Infrastructure

Utility Locating & Test Hole Excavation:

  • Philip Morris - Alleghany Warehouse

Performed 58 test holes on existing fire protection water facilities were in conflict with newly proposed storm drain design. The vertical information from these test holes saved the client approximately $80,000.00 in relocation construction costs without these test holes.
  • University of Virginia - Charlottesville, VA

Performed 18 test holes where utilities were in conflict with new water main design. In addition, Accumark designated approximately 7,500 linear feet of utilities.
