Subsurface utility engineering services by Accumark University & Institutional Facilities Experience

With our long standing reputation for accuracy and innovation, Accumark, Inc. is proud to have developed relationships with some of the leading engineering and architectural firms. Accumark's technicians work in close collaboration with these engineers and designers to develop the most efficient and constructible designs for both institutional and private clients.

Some of our most recent private and institutional facility projects include:

  • Harvard University–Cambridge, MA

Accumark provided Quality Level B Utility Designating services for this project. Accumark designated all underground utilities within the project limits of a facility expansion. Among the utilities designated where electric, telephone, water, gas, and several others. Accumark successfully designated these utilities for a local surveyor.

Accumark also provided Quality Level A Utility Locating services for this project. Test hole services were performed at 120 locations for improvements that were being done to existing utilities on the Harvard Campus. Accumark performed test holes on telephone, water, gas mains, electric duct banks, and various others.
  • Villanova University–Villanova, PA

Accumark was brought in to provide Quality Level B Utility Designating Services on the campus of Villanova University. Accumark designated a wide range of utilities for the design of a dorm expansion project. Accumark's field crews successfully designated fiber-optics, water, electric, gas, in addition to others. After the designation process was complete, Accumark field located all of the paint within the project limits, plotted it onto an existing survey, and presented to the client in an AutoCad overlay.
  • University of Virginia–Charlottesville, VA

Accumark was hired to perform Quality Level A Utility Locating for this project on the campus of the University of Virginia. Over a span of six weeks, Accumark performed test holes at 80 locations where utilities were in conflict. Among these utilities was a critical 16 inch water line owned by the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority. The test holes done on this water line required Accumark's field crews to coordinate with the RWSA so they could be on-site to oversee Accumark while performing the work.

The services provided by Accumark for this project were for a new student housing facility at UVA. In addition to the test holes, Accumark provided traffic control operations throughout the project.
  • Norfolk State University–Norfolk, VA

Accumark provided Quality Level B Utility Designating Services for the construction of a new library at Norfolk State. Accumark designated approximately 50,000 L.F. of underground utilities in a highly congested area. Designating services were also provided for infrastructure improvements to the area surrounding the new library. These infrastructure improvements included a new communications duct bank that will serve as the main feed for the library as well as the satellite communications site next to the library. Accumark also served as an on-call locator for the contractor who was building the new library.

Accumark provided Quality Level A Utility Locating Services for a separate project at Norfolk State. Test hole services were performed at twelve locations where conflicting utilities were in the path of a new electrical feed for the student union center. These conflicts were identified from utility designations that were established by Accumark for the library project.
